Richard Hering (composer)

Richard Hering (born June 26, 1856 in Budissin (today Bautzen ), † June 20, 1943 in Baden-Baden ) was a German music critic , composer , lawyer and editor .

Life

After attending the adult education center and grammar school in Bautzen (1867–1878), at the request of his parents, he first studied law in Leipzig from 1878 to 1883 , after which he studied for two years at the local conservatory. He then worked as a lawyer in Dresden and as a music critic for various newspapers. From 1919 to 1921 he was a member of the police headquarters in Dresden, in the mid-1920s he moved to Switzerland, but returned to Germany in 1933.

As a composer, he essentially created songs.

His father was the composer Carl Eduard Hering , his grandfather the composer Carl Gottlieb Hering , his uncle the physician Constantin Hering .
