Richard Jefferies
John Richard Jefferies (born November 6, 1848 in Coate near Swindon , † August 14, 1887 in Worthing ) was an English nature writer .
His essays made him famous, but he has also written novels, including two influential children's books, Wood Magic and Bevis , an early science fiction work, After London , and a tale of a declining farming family, Amaryllis at the Fair . He suffered from tuberculosis for many years , from which he eventually died; the disease and the resulting poverty influenced his late works.
