Richard March

Richard March (born January 20, 1947 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an Austrian biochemist .

Life

The son of the economist and economic historian Eduard März and the doctor Gertraud Ruth März graduated from high school in Vienna, studied chemistry at Grinnell College in Iowa from 1965 to 1968 , where he graduated with a bachelor's degree. He then studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Vienna and, from 1969, at Saint Louis University in St. Louis , Missouri. It was 1974 at the Saint Louis University with a thesis on Biosynthesis of purines Nucleotides in explants of Mouse Mammary Adenocarcinoma C3HBA doctorate and was from 1974 to 1978 with a postdoc - Fellowship at the University of Minnesota operates.

In 1982 he acquired the license to teach ( Venia docendi ) for medical biochemistry at the University of Salzburg . From 1974 he also taught at the medical faculty of the University of Vienna. After about twenty years as an academic teacher, März turned his interests primarily to improving medical education. He was a member of the working group that developed the new Vienna Medical Curriculum, which came into force in 2001.

In March 2013 Richard März was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Timișoara (Romania). He has been advising the Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie Victor Babes Timișoara on reforming medical studies since 2006 . März played a leading role in the EU project European Quality and Professional Competence in Medical University Education and Management (EMEDIQUAL) from 2011 to 2013.
