Richard Ostwald

Richard Ostwald (born February 25, 1882 in Stralsund ; † May 15, 1951, presumably in Stralsund) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a Prussian member of the state parliament.

Life

After graduating from high school in Stralsund, Richard Ostwald took up an apprenticeship as an upholsterer and later became a community and state worker. From 1909 to 1910 he attended the SPD's Reich Party School in Berlin . In 1910 he married Mathilde, born in Kolberg. Wickboldt, who gave birth to her son Max in 1911. He had a workshop for upholstered furniture and decorations at Kamminer Straße 17. In Kolberg he was party secretary from 1919 to 1923. He then became Gauleiter of the community and state workers' association or the general association of employees in public companies for Pomerania .

Richard Ostwald ran unsuccessfully for the Reichstag in 1924 . From 1926 to 1933 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania and the Provincial Committee of the Province of Pomerania . In 1927/28 he was chairman of the SPD in Kolberg and of the SPD district executive.

He was a member of the Prussian state parliament from 1928 to 1932 .

Around 1947 he returned to Stralsund without his wife, where he then lived.
