Richard Phillips (painter)

Richard Phillips (* 1962 in Marblehead , Massachusetts ) is an American painter of hyperrealism . His large-format oil paintings show celebrities, erotic actors or politicians. In addition, he let actresses act in videos in the aesthetics of commercials, such as Lindsay Lohan in his short film First Point from 2012 or Sasha Gray .

Phillips studied painting in Boston and New Haven in the 1980s .

He lives and works in New York City . His work has been shown worldwide, including at the Museum of Modern Art New York and the Tate Gallery London. Phillips is represented in Germany by Galerie Max Hetzler .
