Richard Preston

Richard Preston (born August 5, 1954 in Cambridge , Massachusetts ) is an American writer .

life and career

Richard Preston's younger brother Douglas is also a writer.

Preston studied at Pomona College in Claremont, California, and graduated summa cum laude in English. He then studied at Princeton University , where he made his Doctor of Philosophy in 1983 . During his studies he took part in the course The Literature of Fact , which was held by his compatriot and fellow writer John McPhee . This course on writing non-fictional books paved Preston's path to his later career as a writer.

For his first book First Light Preston in 1988 received the American Institute of Physics to Science Writing Award .

Preston is married with three children.
