Richard Hermann Ratka (born November 26, 1963 in Dortmund ) is a former German handball player and handball trainer .

During his time as a player, Ratka was active in the handball Bundesliga for TuRa Bergkamen and later for TuRu Düsseldorf . Ratka played 290 Bundesliga games, 55 of them for Bergkamen, in which he scored a total of 1209 goals.

Ratka played for the German national team in 71 international matches in which he scored 180 goals.

After Ratka had to end his career due to injury, he became a coach. From 1998 to 2004 he trained at the HSG Düsseldorf. Then he moved to VfL Gummersbach for one season. From 2005 to February 2010 he was a coach at GWD Minden . In the summer of 2011 he took over the coaching position of the second division DHC Rheinland until the club went bankrupt. From August 2013 Ratka trained the SG Ratingen 2011 , with which he rose to the 3rd division in 2014 . In the summer of 2016, he left this job for private reasons.
