Richard Roth (swimmer)

Richard Roth (born September 26, 1947 ) is a retired American swimmer .

At the age of 17, he won at the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo , the gold medal over 400 meters layers . This made him the first Olympic champion over a layered course. In doing so he set a world record that lasted four years. After that, he was unable to achieve any further international successes.
