Richard Rusche
Richard Nicolaus Rusche (born March 17, 1851 in Diesdorf near Magdeburg , † August 1, 1935 ) was a German animal sculptor, hunting painter and draftsman.
Life
Rusche, a cavalry captain in the Landwehr cavalry, was a student at the Berlin Academy of Arts under Fritz Schaper after completing his military training in 1880/81 . After his short artistic training, he stayed in Berlin . As a passionate hunter, he used long stays in the great outdoors for numerous animal studies, which he processed in particular in masterful animal sculptures. His sculptures are characterized by their perfect naturalness and the elaboration of the breed-specific characteristics of the animals shown. The popular sculptures were reproduced in various sizes and materials (bronze, electroplated, zinc) in large numbers , among others, in the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) and the Gladenbeck foundry . The only known personal monument so far is a statue of Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch in Görlitz.
Rusche was buried in Magdeburg-Diesdorf .
