Richard Sainct

Richard Sainct (* 14. April 1970 , † 29. September 2004 in Egypt ) was a French off-road motorcycle racer, the 1999 , 2000 and 2003 , the Paris-Dakar rally won.

KTM driver Richard Sainct had a fatal accident at the Pharaohs rally in Egypt in 2004 . The accident happened on the first special stage of the fourth stage on a sandy but particularly fast section between Bahariyya and the Siwa oasis .

In order to honor their colleagues, the motorcyclists of the Dakar Rally 2005 did without the starting number 1, which the previous year's winner would have given.
