Gilles Lalay
Gilles Lalay (born March 21, 1962 in Peyrat-le-Château , † January 7, 1992 in Pointe-Noire ) was a French motorcycle racer .
Career
Lalay has won multiple titles in various international enduro competitions and won the 1989 Dakar Rally in the motorcycle class. Since 1986 he has participated in the Dakar Rally mainly on a Honda .
Death at the Dakar Rally
During the 1992 edition of the Dakar Rally, between Franceville and Pointe-Noire in the Congo , he collided with a vehicle belonging to the Rallye Orga driving against the direction of travel and died immediately.
