Peyrat-le-Château is a commune in the Massif Central in France . It belongs to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , the Haute-Vienne department , the Limoges arrondissement and the Eymoutiers canton . The residents call themselves Castel Peyratois .

The neighboring municipalities are Saint-Junien-la-Bregère in the north-west, Saint-Martin-Château in the north-east, Royère-de-Vassivière in the east, Beaumont-du-Lac in the south-east, Saint-Amand-le-Petit in the south, Augne in the south-west and Saint-Julien-le-Petit .

Peyrat-le-Château has a share of the lake called Lac de Vassivière in the east .

The Maulde comes from the north and leaves Peyrat-le-Château towards the west.
