Verneuil-sur-Vienne ( Occitan Vernuèlh ) is a French village with 4889 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Verneuil-sur-Vienne belongs to the arrondissement of Limoges and is part of the canton of Aixe-sur-Vienne . The inhabitants are called Verneuillais (es) .

Verneuil-sur-Vienne is about ten kilometers west-north-west of Limoges on the banks of the Vienne River . Verneuil-sur-Vienne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Veyrac in the north and north-west, Saint-Gence in the north, Limoges in the east, Isle in the south-east, Aixe-sur-Vienne in the south, Saint-Priest-sous-Aixe in the south-west, Saint- Yrieix-sous-Aixe in the west and Saint-Marie-de-Vaux and Saint-Victurnien in the northwest.
The National Route 141 runs through the municipality .
