Saint-Victurnien is a commune with 1,755 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Haute-Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement Rochechouart , the canton Saint-Junien and is a member of the Vienne Glane community .
geography
The municipality is located around 20 kilometers northwest of Limoges in the Vienne valley , just outside the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park , which begins at the southern municipal boundary. Neighboring municipalities are Oradour-sur-Glane in the north, Veyrac in the northeast, Verneuil-sur-Vienne in the east, Sainte-Marie-de-Vaux in the southeast, Cognac-la-Forêt in the south and Saint-Brice-sur-Vienne in the west.
The municipality's capital lies on the right bank of the Vienne River . The municipal area extends on both banks. Several short streams drain the area to the Vienne, on the southern border the river Râches runs .
Transport links
The main road link is the department road D32, which runs along the Vienne and Saint-Victurnien over a bridge, the river changes. A railway line also runs along the north bank and has a stop in town. The national road N141 runs on the northern edge of the municipality .
