Oradour-sur-Vayres ( Occitan : Orador de Vairas ) is a French municipality with 1,500 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the department of Haute-Vienne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement Rochechouart and the canton Rochechouart (until 2015: canton Oradour-sur-Vayres ). The inhabitants are called oratorios .
geography
Oradour-sur-Vayres is located about 29 kilometers west-southwest of Limoges in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park . The Grêne rises in the middle of the municipality . Oradour-sur-Vayres is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Auvent in the north and north-east, Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre in the east, Champagnac-la-Rivière in the south-east, Cussac in the south, Saint-Bazile in the west and south-west and Vayres in the West and northwest.
