Saint-Léger-la-Montagne is a commune in France . It belongs to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , the Haute-Vienne department and the Limoges arrondissement . The village was converted to the canton of Ambazac in 2015 . The neighboring municipalities are Bersac-sur-Rivalier in the north, Saint-Sulpice-Laurière in the northeast, La Jonchère-Saint-Maurice and Saint-Laurent-les-Églises in the southeast, Ambazac in the south, Saint-Sylvestre in the southwest and Razès in the west.

history

Around 1100 a Grammontenser priory was founded in Saint-Léger-la-Montagne . The name “Sauvagnac” assigned to this has not been proven with certainty.

In 1829 the previously independent municipality of Saint-Pierre-la-Montagne was incorporated into Saint-Léger-la-Montagne.
