Saint-Méard , in Occitan "Sent Mèrd", is a municipality in France . It belongs to the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , the Haute-Vienne department , the Limoges arrondissement and the Eymoutiers canton . The neighboring municipalities are Saint-Bonnet-Briance in the northwest, Linards in the north, Châteauneuf-la-Forêt in the northeast, La Croisille-sur-Briance in the southeast, Saint-Vitte-sur-Briance in the south and Glanges in the west.

history

The former Latin name of the village was around the year 1090 "Sancti Médardi". This became "Saint-Médard". The settlement has had its current name since around 1700.
