Richard Schmitz (politician, 1940)
Richard Schmitz (* 1940 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), presenter on Radio Stephansdom and former district director in Vienna's 1st district Inner City .
Life
Schmitz studied law and singing and initially worked as a wig manufacturer. At the end of the 1960s he was brought into politics by Erhard Busek . From 1969 Schmitz worked as a district official and trainer at the Political Academy of the ÖVP. From 1987 to 2001 he was district chairman of the inner city . Schmitz is voluntarily active as an opera critic, presenter and designer of the programs Per Opera ad astra and Wienerlied classic at Radio Stephansdom . He is also President of the Austrian-Israeli Society .
Richard Schmitz is executive vice-president of the "Society of Friends of the Spanish Riding School ".

- 2010: Knight's Cross of the Papal New Year's Eve .
