Richard Sigmund Schultze

Richard Sigmund Schultze (born February 1, 1831 in Freiburg im Breisgau , † January 5, 1916 in Greifswald ) was a German local politician and mayor of Greifswald.

Life

Richard Sigmund Schultze graduated from high school in Greifswald in 1850. From 1850 to 1853 he studied law, political science and camera science at the Universities of Berlin, Heidelberg and Greifswald with a final doctorate as Dr. iur. From 1883 he was a corps loop bearer of the Pomerania .

From 1854 to 1861 he held legal offices in Greifswald, Halle (Saale) , Loitz and Bergen on Rügen .

From 1861 Schultze was a member of the Greifswald magistrate, later a member of the administrative court of the Stralsund administrative district . He was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania . From 1878 he was city counsel and deputy mayor; from 1896 to 1905 then mayor of the city of Greifswald.

Its merit is the reorganization of the inner city administration. He had a pension, widows and orphans' fund set up and initiated the construction of the power station in Marienstraße.

In 1905 the city granted him honorary citizenship.
