Richard Streng (born April 4, 1876 in Nuremberg , † September 3, 1951 in Giersbach ) was a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician .

Life

Richard Streng was born the son of a prison director. After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg . In 1898 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Freiburg . After the first state examination in law and his legal traineeship, he passed the second state examination in law. Then he went through the assessor period. In 1907 he joined the administrative service of the city ​​of Pforzheim , became a councilor in 1909 and in 1917 took over the role of first mayor. From 1919 to 1933 he was elected First Mayor and Deputy Mayors Ferdinand Habermehl and Erwin Gündert .

After the NSDAP won the Reichstag elections in March 1933 , Streng was forced to retire in December 1933. From June 1940 until his dismissal by the French military government in December 1945, he was head of Department II of the Freiburg Police Department.

After the end of the Second World War , Streng was an alderman for the city of Freiburg. From December 3, 1946 to March 31, 1947, he served in the provisional government of Baden as State Secretary for Justice and then until June 26, 1947 as State Commissioner for Political Purification. From October 1947 until his retirement in December 1948, he was the fourth mayor (deputy mayor) of the city of Freiburg.
