Richard Sussman

Richard Sussman (* 1946 ) is an American jazz and fusion bassist , pianist , composer , arranger and university professor.

Richard Sussman played in Blood, Sweat & Tears and Little Anthony & the Imperials in the late 1960s . In the 1970s and 1980s he worked a. a. with Mike Santiago , Randy Brecker , Lionel Hampton , Buddy Rich , Lee Konitz , David Sanborn and Donna Summer . In 1978 the album Free Fall was created for the Double Time label with the help of musicians such as Tom Harrell , Jerry Bergonzi , Larry Schneider and Mike Richmond . In 1991 he worked on Steve Slagle's album Smoke Signals . In 2016 he released the album The Evolution Suite (Zoho).

Richard Sussman also worked as a composer, integrating jazz rhythms, improvisational elements with structures and techniques from contemporary music ( Dialogue for Jazz Band & Orchestra , 2003) and ( Suites # 1 & 2 for Jazz Band and Orchestra ); he has also worked as arranger for Lionel Hampton, Blood Sweat & Tears, Mel Lewis, Randy Brecker and others.

Sussman has taught jazz composition at the Manhattan School of Music since 1986 . He also deals with the programming of MIDI synthesizers and the production of commercial music. He looked at the synthesizer programming with Randy Brecker's album Into The Sun with. He also wrote numerous film scores for feature films and television productions.
