Richard Vollath (born March 2, 1959 ) is a former German soccer player . In the 1980s he played a total of 17 games in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga.

Career

Vollath started playing soccer at TuS Dachelhofen. In 1981 he came from VfL Frohnlach to 1. FC Nürnberg in the Bundesliga . His only appearance for the "Glubberer" was on matchday 34 of the 1981/82 season in a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund . In the summer of 1982 he moved to FC Augsburg in the 2nd Bundesliga for a transfer of 30,000 D-Marks and played 16 games for the club. He scored his only goal on October 23, 1982 in a 2-1 win over Alemannia Aachen . After he had to relegate with the team after the 1982/83 season, Vollath left Augsburg and returned to amateur football in the Bayern League . He then played for SpVgg Weiden , SSV Jahn Regensburg or VFL Frohnlach. At the age of 27 he ended his active career and concentrated on his non-football career. However, he continued to play football as a hobby. He was also active as a trainer, most recently taking care of SV Haselbach from 2010 to 2013.

Richard Vollath is the father of goalkeeper René Vollath .
