Richard Wilson-Smith (* 1852 in Ireland ; † September 12, 1912 in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts ) was a Canadian politician and journalist . From 1896 to 1898 he was mayor of Montreal .

Wilson-Smith emigrated to Canada in 1879 and settled in Montreal. From 1882 he worked as a journalist for the business magazine Insurance and Finance Chronicle , whose editor-in-chief and owner he later became. In addition, he was involved in various trading and financial companies. In 1893 he was elected to the Montreal city council. Three years later he successfully ran for mayoral election. During his two-year tenure, he went against office patronage and restricted the growth of the public service. Wilson Smith was in the general election 1896 candidate of the Conservative Party in the constituency of Saint-Laurent, but was not elected.
