Richard Zäh (* 1947 in Dietfurt in Middle Franconia ) is a German local politician ( CSU ). He is an honorary citizen of the Middle Franconian city ​​of Treuchtlingen .

biography

Zäh was born in Dietfurt in Middle Franconia , a current district of Treuchtlingen. His father Adolf as well as his grandfather and his great-grandfather were mayors of Dietfurt. Tough attended the farmer's school in Herrsching am Ammersee , which he graduated in 1973 as an agricultural master . In 1970 he took over his parents' farm.

Shortly after Dietfurt was incorporated in 1978, Zäh was elected to the city council of Treuchtlingen and in 1984 to the district council of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district . He is still a member of both bodies today. From 1996 to 2002 he was Treuchtlingen's Third Mayor and since 2002 Second Mayor. He acted as local spokesman for Dietfurt from 1978 to 2014. In addition, from 1988 to 2007, Zäh was deputy district chairman of the CSU. From 1978 to 2015 he was a member of the supervisory board of Raiffeisenbank Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen , from 1983 to 1998 as chairman of the supervisory board.

Richard Zäh has been married to Luise since 1970. The marriage had three children.

Awards

  • In 1996 Richard Zäh received the Silver Ring of Honor from the city of Treuchtlingen for his 18 years as a city councilor
  • In 2007 he received the Municipal Medal of Merit in bronze.
  • In September 2016, Zäh received the Golden Ring of Honor from his hometown “in special recognition of his outstanding services to the common good”.
  • He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • In April 2020, Zäh was the ninth person to be made an honorary citizen of the city of Treuchtlingen. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , the award was given in his absence.
