history

The newspaper was founded in 1887 by Johann Christian Leidel as an official gazette for the Treuchtlingen magistrate and an announcement sheet for Treuchtlingen and the surrounding area . Initially, the Treuchtlinger Kurier appeared twice a week, from the First World War three times a week, from 1923 four times a week. The newspaper editors and publishers have resided in the former Hypobank building since 1930. In the 1920s, the newspaper served as the official gazette of the Weißenburg district court . As of 1939, the newspaper appeared in the course of the Gleichschaltung in the publishing house of the Franconian daily newspaper , in 1943 the Treuchtlinger Kurier was completely discontinued. In 1946 the Treuchtlinger Kurier appeared as an advertising paper, from 1949 as a daily newspaper. Since 1959 there has been a cooperation with the Nürnberger Nachrichten together with other newspapers in the region, since 1969 there has been an additional close cooperation with the Weißenburger Tagblatt .
