Richard von Hardt

Richard Hardt , from 1888 von Hardt (born August 6, 1824 in Lennep , † September 29, 1898 in Berlin ) was a German businessman and entrepreneur .

Life

His parents were Johann Engelbert Hardt (1783-1850) and Luise Hardt nee Hasenclever (1787-1867). He completed a commercial apprenticeship in Hamburg. On July 1, 1847, he and his brother Heinrich Hardt founded Hardt & Co. in New York City to trade in cloth goods. In 1854 they founded the Hardt & Co. company in Berlin. His brother Heinrich Hardt was a co-founder of Deutsche Bank AG in 1870 . Richard von Hardt was a member of the Evangelical Church Building Association in Berlin .

Richard von Hardt was married to Elise Schemmann. After his death, his son Friedrich Wilhelm von Hardt (1855-1938) inherited the estate of Wąsowo Castle and the surrounding lands of Głuponie and Chraplewo. His nephew was the banker Engelbert Hardt .
