Richelbach is a village in the municipality of Neunkirchen in the Miltenberg district in Lower Franconia in Bavaria .

history

The church village of Richelbach was first mentioned in 1148. For centuries, the predominantly agricultural town was under the Altmünster convent in Mainz . The monastery was the lower judge of Richelbach until it was dissolved in 1781 , after which this right was transferred to the Mainz University Fund. Saint Bilhildis von Altmünster , the partly legendary tradition after the founder of the monastery, is the local patroness of Richelbach. The small church in the village, a branch church of the parish of Neunkirchen, is consecrated to her. This is a very rare patronage .

Architectural monuments

In addition to the neo-Romanesque church of St. Bilhildis, built in 1903, there are three other architectural monuments in Richelbach, all made of sandstone: a neo-Gothic wayside shrine (1859), a wayside cross (1870) and a Marian column (originally 1713).
