Richter & Co. was a dressing material and rubber goods factory in Brüx in Bohemia .

history

The company Richter & Co. was founded in 1891 in Chomutov established and operating exclusively with the production of cotton wool opened. These came mostly in chemically pure form in the trade, but was also the Kleinverschleiss in pharmacies and drugstores in the impregnation -Anstalt the company with the most common drugs were added.

The machines kept going by steam power consisted of striking machines and cards , which came from England . When the factory was founded, 18-20 workers, mostly women, were employed.

The steadily increasing consumption led to the need to increase production from year to year, and so in 1894 they started to set up their own bleaching plant. In 1898 the daily production was 800-1000 kilograms of cotton wool with a machine output of 60 hp and 118 workers.

The plant was expanded again in 1895 with the addition of a new branch, patent rubber goods manufacturing. The main specialty product was rubber objects for medical and surgical aids , but other objects were also made to make better use of the halls and workers. The establishment owned a number of patents in European countries, which relate to special methods of manufacturing as well as the execution of individual special items.

Since at the end of the 19th century an expansion was necessary again, the company bought the former enamelling factory in Brüx, where the manufacturing facility moved on July 1st, 1899. The establishment had work rooms three times larger in Brüx than in Komotau, and accordingly the mechanical facilities were enlarged and the entire business expanded.

The company received an award in Leipzig in 1892 and in Prague in 1896. The owners Julius Richter and Heinrich Kohn received the title of imperial and royal purveyor to the court for their services .

Also known as RICO, the company survived the First World War and the collapse of the dual monarchy. It was nationalized by the communists in 1946 after World War II. After the reunification, RICO was taken over by the Hartmann Group as a subsidiary under the name "Hartmann-Rico as" in 1991 . After Brüx was destroyed by coal mining in the 1970s, the main headquarters is in Veverská Bítýška . Another location is Bratislava in Slovakia. Under the management of Hartmann, RICO was able to increase its sales and export figures significantly, and the production facilities were modernized for many millions of crowns .
