Rick van der Ven

Rick van der Ven (born April 14, 1991 in Oss ) is a Dutch archer.

Career

Van der Ven is a mechanical engineering student at the ROC de Leijgraaf in Veghel. He is a member of De Vriendenkring 1897 Schaijk and trains with Wietse van Alten .

In 2009 he became junior runner-up world champion with the recurve bow in Ogden (USA) . Two years later, at the Junior World Championships in Legnica, he won the silver medal in the mixed competition and the bronze medal in the team competition. In the individual competition he was fourth.

In the senior division, he finished ninth both individually and with a team at the 2010 European Championships in Rovereto (Italy). In May 2012 he became European champion at the European Championships in Amsterdam both individually and with the Dutch team. He qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. There he was fourth after losing in the jump-off against the Japanese Takaharu Furukawa in the semifinals and the Chinese Dai Xiaoxiang in the match for third place.

At the World Archery Championships 2013 in Antalya (Turkey) he won the silver medal in the team competition together with Rick van den Oever and Sjef van den Berg .

His sister Kirsten is also a member of the Dutch national archery team.
