Ridkiwzi ( Ukrainian Рідківці ; Russian Редковцы Redkowzy , Romanian Rarancea , German (until 1918) Rarancze ) is a village in the center of the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 4,500 inhabitants (2018).
The village is located on the T-26-03 territorial road and on the bank of the Hukiw ( Гуків ), a 29 km long tributary of the Prut , 30 km northwest of the Novoselyzja district center and 14 km northeast of the city center of the Oblast capital Chernivtsi .
Ridkivtsi was the only village in the district council of the same name until October 2017 and has been part of the rural municipality of Mahala ( Магальська громада ) in Novoselytsia district since then .
Personalities
The writer, ethnographer and activist Yevhenia Yaroschynska ( Євгенія Іванівна Ярошинська , 1868–1904) lived in the village and in 1968 the Ukrainian singer Ivan Krasovsky ( Іван Красовський ) was born in Rid.
