The Riedlingsdorf ( Coregonus danneri ) is a freshwater fish species in the genus Coregonus . At times it was considered a subspecies of the gang fish ( Coregonus macrophthalmus ). Its distribution area is limited to the Traunsee in the Austrian Salzkammergut .

The Riedling reaches a standard length of over 220 mm. The mouth is almost terminal. The muzzle is rounded. The upper jaw reaches the front edge of the eye. The Traunsee is a nutrient-poor (oligotrophic) lake at an altitude of 422 meters with a maximum depth of 191 meters. The Riedling usually lives in the deeper areas between 40 and 60 meters. It often comes to the surface in summer. The spawning season is from mid-October to early March. The female spawns for the first time at the age of two. The spawn is deposited near the shore. The Riedling reaches a maximum age of six years.

Danger

The Riedling has a small distribution area of ​​less than 25 km². Hybridization of the Riedling with other Coregons was found over a period of 30 years .
