Riejanne Markus (born September 1, 1994 in Diemen ) is a Dutch cyclist and speed skater .

Athletic career

Riejanne Markus began her athletic career as a speed skater. It mainly starts in regional competitions. In 2012 she won a natural ice marathon in Zwartebroek . She has also been a cyclist since 2012. In 2015, she finished fifth in the road race at the European Road Championship (U23) .

Markus has been under contract with Team WM3 since the beginning of 2017 ; for this she was “recruited” by her successful compatriot Marianne Vos . In April she won the Omloop van Borsele in her home country and shortly afterwards two stages and the overall ranking of the Czech race Gracia Orlová . In 2019 she became both world champion and European champion with the Dutch team in the mixed relay .

Miscellaneous

In addition to her sporting activities, Riejanne Markus runs a website for the sale of cycling socks together with her friend, the racing cyclist Jasper Ockeloen .
