The Rifugio Albert Deffeyes is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2494  m within the municipality of La Thuile , in the immediate vicinity of the mountain lake Lago inferiore del Ruitor or Lac inférieur du Ruitor (French). The hut is managed from mid-June to mid-September and offers 92 mountaineers sleeping places.

The hut is located on high path no. 2 in the Aosta Valley. From the rifugio you have a beautiful view of the 3,486 m high Testa del Rutor (French: Tête du Ruitor ) and the Rutor glacier , one of the largest in the Aosta Valley.

rise

The path to the hut begins at the 1,607 m high car park in the La Joux sub-municipality and leads in the direction of the 3 Rutor waterfalls, which the path initially follows. Finally, you reach the Alp du glacier , which is located near a lake. After passing this small plain, the path climbs steeply. Due to its hidden location, the refuge can only be seen on the last meters of the ascent.

The entire way from the parking lot in La Joux to the Deffeyes hut takes between two and a half and three hours.

history

The hut was opened in 1953 and is dedicated to local politician Albert Deffeyes.
