The Rifugio degli Angeli al Morion (Italian) or Refuge des Anges au Morion (French) is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian Alps in Italy . It is located at an altitude of 2916 m within the municipality of Valgrisenche . The hut is open from mid-June to mid-September and offers sleeping places for 52 mountaineers during this time.
The refuge is located near the Morion Glacier, which has its origin at the Testa del Rutor (French: Tête du Rutor ). The location of the hut offers a view of the Aiguille de la Grande Sassière , the Gran Paradiso (French: Grand Paradis ), part of the Monte Rosa group , the Matterhorn and the Grand Combin .

The shortest way to the hut begins in Bonne above the dam of the Beauregard reservoir at an altitude of 1810 m . From there, the path leads first to Arp Vieille ( 2200 m ), and then via the former military site Capitano Crova ( 2430 m ) and the Plan du Brei level to the hut.
The entire route from the dam to the refuge takes around 3½ hours.
history
The first refuge under the name Cléa Scavarda was built in 1884, but this building fell victim to the flames in 1990. The reconstruction work was carried out from 2003 onwards by volunteers from the Operation Mato Grosso aid project . The hut was inaugurated in 2005 and has been run by the volunteers ever since. The net income flows into projects in Mato Grosso .
