history

The Celso Gilberti Hut was built in 1934 by the Friulian Alpine Society on a ridge between the Prevala saddle and the Bila Pec saddle. In 1944 the building was destroyed and in 1950 by the CAI -Sektion Udine rebuilt. Extensions were necessary in 1964 and 1970. The hut bears the name of Celso Gilberti, a Friulian alpinist who had a fatal accident on the Paganella . Because of the cable car that leads up from the Nevea saddle and allows easy access to the Prevala basin, only a few mountaineers stay here. The three-story building is made of stone; on the mezzanine floor are the kitchen, the house bar and the dining room; the first floor 8 are double and one dormitory with 20 beds housed; The attic offers additional spaces. A total of 40 beds are available. The dining room can accommodate up to 60 people.
