The Rifugio Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro (often also called Rifugio Elisabetta for short) is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian Alps and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Mont Blanc group . It is located at an altitude of 2195  m on the area called La Lex Blanche within the municipality of Courmayeur . The hut is open from mid-June to mid-September and offers sleeping places for 77 mountaineers during this time.

The hut is located near the end of the Val Veny valley and is located both on the Alta via della Val d'Aosta n.2 high-altitude trail and on the popular Tour du Mont-Blanc .

The path to the hut begins at the parking lot of the La Visaille sub-municipality , at an altitude of 1659  m , near the Lac du Combal.

For the entire route from the parking lot in La Visaille to the Rifugio Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro, which does not present any difficulties, about 2 hours of walking are estimated.

history

The Rifugio Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro was opened in 1953 and is dedicated to the mountaineer Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro, who died in an accident on Mont de la Saxe. 30 years after it opened, the refuge was enlarged considerably.

Tour possibilities

The Col Chavannes ( 2596  m ) and Col de la Seigne ( 2512  m ) passes can be climbed from the refuge . The Col de la Seigne is on the border between Italy and France .
