The Rifugio Mulaz , full name Rifugio Giuseppe Volpi al Mulaz , (German Mulaz-Hütte ) is a refuge of the Venice section of the Italian Alpine Club CAI in the Pala group in the province of Belluno . The hut, which is usually open from mid-June to mid-September, has 52 beds and a winter room with 12 beds.

location

The refuge is located at the upper end of the valley of Val Focobon about 50 m below the Passo del Mulaz at 2571  m slm in the municipality of Falcade. The rifugio is in the Focobon group, as the northeast subgroup of the Pala group is called. The Dolomiten-Höhenweg 2 and the Europa Höhenweg 2 pass the hut .

history

The Rifugio Mulaz was built in 1907 by the CAI Venice Section. Thanks to the financial help of friends of the Volpi family, the building was expanded between 1959 and 1960 and was therefore dedicated to the entrepreneur and politician Giuseppe Volpi . In the following years the rifugio was modernized several times.
