The Rifugio Vieux Crest (or Refuge Vieux Crest or Albergo Vieux Crest ) is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Valais Alps . It is located at an altitude of 1935  m in the Valle d'Ayas side valley near the Vallone di Cuneaz within the municipality of Ayas . The hut is open from mid-December to mid-April and from the end of June to the beginning of September and offers sleeping places for 36 mountaineers during this time.

The hut is climbed as part of the Alta via della Val d'Aosta n.1 high- altitude hiking trail .

Ascent

From Champoluc, a district of Ayas, the hut can be easily reached within 45 minutes. Follow the signs to the Crest district. Alternatively, you can take the cable car from Champoluc.

history

The refuge in its current appearance is part of the old village of Crest and was inaugurated in 1997. It belongs to one of the huts that is reached during the Aosta Valley trekking tour "Tour de Six".
