The Rifugio Giovanni Battista Ferraro (also Rifugio GB Ferraro or Rifugio Ferraro for short) is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Valais Alps . It is located at an altitude of 2066 m in the Valle d'Ayas side valley near the Vallone della Forca within the municipality of Ayas . The hut is open from the beginning of May to the middle of September and offers sleeping places for 26 mountaineers.
The hut is climbed as part of the Alta via della Val d'Aosta n.1 high- altitude hiking trail .
Ascent
From Saint-Jacques, a district of Ayas, the hut can be easily reached within 45 minutes. Follow the signs to the Resy district.
history
The refuge in its current appearance was built in 1560 and renovated for the last time in 1968. The village of Resy is an old Walser foundation.
