The Ring of Christian Democratic Students in Bavaria eV based in Munich is the union of 12 independent and independent university groups in the Free State of Bavaria. Each individual member is a member of the group at the university location and each group is a member of the Bavarian State Association. In addition, each group as well as the regional association of Bavaria is also a member of the federal association of the RCDS .
history
The beginnings of the association are varied. Depending on the source, there are different foundation dates. This may also be related to the fact that there were initially individual student groups who only then joined together to form different, sometimes overlapping higher levels. It is certain that as early as 1946 the first Christian-Democratic student groups were formed in the American occupation zone, which were oriented towards the CSU . This was especially true for the universities of Munich , Würzburg , Erlangen and Eichstätt . The bourgeois student groups were, however, severely restricted in their work by the American reservation rights, which forbade “any partisan activity” at the universities. Only the left-wing groups (KPD university group, Kampfgruppe Marx etc.) were allowed to operate without a cover name. This fact - combined with the relaxation of American reservations - led, however, from 1949/50 to a comparatively rapid structuring of the bourgeois camp.
A nationwide coordination of the work of the individual student groups must have existed in large numbers and also quite early on. In 1947, for example, the first loose collaboration between the groups in Munich, Erlangen and Würzburg is documented. The commemorative publication “10 Years of Christian Social Student Groups in Bavaria”, which appeared in February 1959, provides the first date for a permanent association. In 1949, however, this regional association was still of a fairly loose structure and without statutes. A really solid union of the Bavarian Christian-social and -democratic groups was probably not formed until the winter semester 1950/51. This union was the first to be called "Ring of Christian Democratic Students in Bavaria". Today the Bavarian regional association is the largest and oldest association within the federal association of the RCDS.
organization
The RCDS is politically independent. He is committed to the free and democratic basic order and believes in the freedom of the individual in an open society based on solidarity. The basic political convictions of the RCDS in Bavaria are guided by Christian democratic, conservative and liberal values. Due to the shared values and content-related similarities, the RCDS feels a strong connection to the Union parties. The individual university groups stand for election every year in the university elections and are involved in the individual committees of the respective university for the interests of the students. In addition, the RCDS Bayern offers information events and assistance with regard to financing your studies, studying with children or studying abroad.
