The Rio Javaés is the right side stream ( port. : Braço menor ) of the Rio Araguaia in Brazil and forms the largest river island , the Ilha do Bananal , in the world. Its name comes from the indigenous population of the Javaé , who live on the Ilha do Bananal.
Its upper course, which forms the border between the states of Tocantins and Goiás , belongs to the Meandros do Rio Araguaia environmental protection area up to the mouth of the Rio Verde .
