The Paranapanema ( Portuguese Rio Paranapanema ) is a left (eastern) tributary of the Río Paraná in Brazil . It rises in the state of São Paulo in the Serra do Paranapiacaba and forms the border between the states of São Paulo and Paraná from the mouth of the Itararé . The Paranapanema has a length of 900 km.
