Riot ( English for riot, riot ) is an American heavy metal band from New York . They are considered the pioneers of American power metal. Riot was founded in Brooklyn in 1976. The original line-up consisted of Guy Speranza († 2003; vocals), guitarists Mark Reale († 2012) and Rick Ventura, bassist Cliff "Kip" Leming and drummer Sandy Slavin. Guy Speranza was replaced after the "Fire Down Under" album by Rhett Forrester, with which the following two albums were recorded.

Riot broke up in the mid-1980s, but came back together in 1987. Over the following years, the occupation often changed so that the "family" of current and former Riot members to around 20 people grew, including the drummer Bobby Rondinelli ( Rainbow , Blue Öyster Cult , Black Sabbath ) and Bobby Jarzombek ( Halford , Iced Earth ).

After the death of Mark Reale and the departure of Tony Moore, the band continued their story with Todd Michael Hall as the new singer from 2013 under the name Riot V.
