Rise Up is the second studio album released in 2013 by the Swedish / US supergroup W.ET

background

WET released the self-titled debut album in 2009, which was received very positively by the critics and was included in the list of the best albums of 2009 compiled by Rocks magazine . The album was created without the involvement of Jeff Scott Soto in the songwriting , since the record company ( Frontiers Records ) had approached Robert Säll and Erik Mårtensson in 2008 and asked them to write six songs each for a joint album with Soto.

It wasn't until four years later that the group managed to release another album. This time Soto played a key role in its creation as a songwriter.

reception

Rock Hard wrote that for "the second album by WET, a collaboration with work-of-art guitarist Robert Såll and the singing jack of all trades Jeff Scott Soto" (including Talisman, Journey, Axel Rudi Pell, Malmsteen), Erik Mårtensson " The "hit density is not completely to worship" ( The Moment , Bad Boy and Broken Wings are only standard), but for a clear recommendation it is always enough : Learn To Live Again and What You Want are "hooked on Karacho ins Mett, " Walk Away and Shot are hardly inferior to that, and even the" rocky rest not mentioned yet would have been taken by the competition with a kiss. "That the ballads Love Heals and Still Believe In Us also" guaranteed to make every panty humid ", is there "just a great bonus."

Metal Hammer was of the opinion that the 2009 work had "already caused a lot of damp spots in the inclined listener", and Rise Up hit "in the same notch." With "musicians who all counted as masters of their trade", "more Hooks as provided in every Peter Pan film adaptation and species-appropriate production aplomb, "WET continues to satisfy" all the needs and requirements that one should and should place on the genre of melodies. If Hollywood in the "digital improvement mania were not doing optical nonsense as with ET or Star Wars , but instead engaged in current exchange on the auditory level, songs like Bad Boy , On The Run or Broken Wings would be top replacement soundtrack candidates for a re-release of" On the wings of the eagle or similar action cinema calibers from the eighties. “If that isn't a proof of quality ...
