history

The company was founded in 1860 by Pietro Scotti in Marudo in the province of Lodi , in the middle of the rice-growing area of the Po Valley , as a rice mill . This processed the rice bought by the rice farmers and sold it on. In 1890, under the direction of his son, Ercole Scotti, activities were relocated to Villanterio in the province of Pavia . Two of Ercole Scotti's eight children, Angelo and Gaetano Scotti, later joined the family business. They initially took care of the rice transport and expanded the mill into an industrial company with the introduction of new production techniques.

In 1952, Ferdinando Scotti, son of Angelo Scotti, took over the management of Riso Scotti SpA , the fourth generation, which had been converted into a stock corporation . He held this position until 1983. During this time, expansion and industrialization continued with the help of technical production and processing equipment. Since 1983 Riso Scotti SpA has grown into a group of companies under the management of Angelo Dario Scotti.

In 2013 the Spanish group Ebro Foods acquired a 25% stake, which was increased to 40% in 2016.
