The Ritter Butzke (often abbreviated to Butzke ) is a techno club in Berlin-Kreuzberg .

history

The Ritter Butzke was opened for the first time in 2007 in two former factory halls of the Butzke-Werke , but initially without the necessary official permits. Due to an anonymous criminal complaint , the then illegal club at this location was initially closed again and continued for a few months in the building of the former party college "Karl Marx" . In October 2009, the Butzke reopened at the original location at Ritterstraße 26, which is still in use today, this time with official permission.

concept

Like many other Berlin techno clubs, the Ritter Butzke always opens on Fridays and Saturdays around midnight. There are also regular parties on Thursdays, which usually start a little earlier. The game is played on up to three floors , one of which is partly open-air in summer , mostly techno or tech house . In addition to these parties, there are also other cultural events, such as poetry slams . The Pirate Party Germany rented the premises several times for election parties. 2015 invited SPD into Butzke one to the public about drug educate. The club operates its own music label under the name of Ritter Butzke Studio .

reception

The club is occasionally mentioned in national and international coverage, including by the British Daily Mail . In the user ranking of the Internet portal for electronic music Resident Advisor , the club is rated as one of the twelve most popular in Berlin (as of June 2017).
