The manor to Kürbitz in Vogtland was a good of the family of Feilitzsch , has been preserved by the now only a part of the mansion.

history

The von Feilitzsch family, named after their ancestral seat near the court , was one of the landlords in Kürbitz around 1300. In the late 15th century, Jobst von Feilitzsch acquired existing farms in the area and thus founded the Kürbitz manor . A former moated castle , a permanent house , at the river crossing of the White Elster later became a mansion . For about 700 years, until 1945, the house was owned by the noble family. Urban Caspar Freiherr von Feilitzsch , Margravial Brandenburg Privy Councilor, Chancellor and feudal judge was an outstanding personality in the history of the property . In the 17th century, by converting it into a residential palace, he had the building shape that can still be recognized today. The original medieval residential tower has a projecting half-timbered tower with a steep gable roof . At the beginning of the 19th century, extensions with hipped roofs were added on the north and east sides . Inside, the baroque room layout was essentially retained. Between 1936 and 1938 the building was renovated. After the end of the Second World War, the mansion was a hostel for displaced Germans . In 1961 the former potato distillery was destroyed by a fire caused by negligence. Other free-standing farm buildings on the grounds of the manor were used less and less; they fell into disrepair and were eventually demolished. The upper area of the mansion served as a residential building until 1987. In the lower area, rooms were used as a school kitchen and the community library was also housed in the building.

On the morning of November 11, 1987, there was a devastating fire. The upper storey and roof fell victim to the flames and the mansion could only be saved from complete destruction with great difficulty. Committed residents from Kürbitz soon erected a temporary roof cover to protect the building from the weather. Over a period of almost 20 years this was the salvation from complete ruin.

After the reunification of Germany , Joachim Freiherr von Feilitzsch initially took care of the former residence of his ancestors. A development association has been committed to the rescue and maintenance of the manor house since 2005 . The Förderverein Rittergut Kürbitz e. V. concluded a lease agreement with the owner of the property, the community of Weischlitz , and also tried to use it in the future. A wide range of activities enabled the receipt of donations and the granting of allowances, so that in 2007 the building could be secured in an emergency. The roof and attic were completely rebuilt. Endangered parts of the masonry were stabilized and renovation work was carried out on the framework .

In December 2011, the municipality of Weischlitz planned to sell the property as part of a tender.

On April 16, 2012, the Weischlitz City Council (resolution number 326/45/2012) decided to sell the manor house of the former Kürbitz manor to a real estate investor from Reichenbach i. V. The draft resolution did not contain a purchase price. The mayor of Weischlitz refused to state the purchase price. The SMI did not answer the question either. In a preliminary consultation, the investor offered a purchase price of 20,000 euros. A total of around 500,000 euros in donations and subsidies flowed into the property. In the run-up to the purchase, the investor offered that rooms on the ground floor could be used by the community and that at least part of the house would have remained temporarily accessible to the public. This did not happen. Like the rest of the house, the ground floor was converted into an apartment. Access to the site was forbidden to the public.

On September 16, 2013, the park was sold to the same investor for 49 cents per square meter. Maintaining the accessibility of the park to the public was explicitly mentioned in the draft resolution. This assurance was also not kept.

Thus, neither the grounds at the manor house, the building itself nor the park are open to the public. A report on the construction research carried out according to the information provided by the investor is still not available.
