The River Eden is a watercourse in Surrey and Kent in England . It arises northeast of Oxted and flows in a southwest direction through the place. In the southwest of the town it changes to a southerly direction, which it changes to an easterly direction southwest of Haxted. It crosses the border into Kent and flows through Edenbridge . To the east of Edenbridge the course of the Eden widens to a lake at Hever Castle. To the northeast of Chiddingstone , the Eden changes again in a southerly direction and then flows first to the west of Penshurst . In the southwest of the village it changes again to an easterly direction and flows into the River Medway in the east of the village .
