The River Orchy is a river in the Scottish Highlands in the Unitary Authority Argyll and Bute .
The source of the River Orchy is Loch Tulla . It then flows through the Glen Orchy and Strath of Orchy valleys . After a distance of about 20 km the river flows into Loch Awe . About four kilometers above the estuary, the River Lochy brings water from the mountain formations around the Ben Lui to it.
The River Orchy is a popular fishing spot. The main catches are salmon and trout . Numerous sections of the river are used for rafting , although the possibilities of doing this sport in the river depend heavily on the fluctuating water levels of the Orchy. In summer, the River Orchy often has too little water to make rafting possible. During the particularly rain-intensive winter months, however, the current is often too strong.
