The Rivière Rouge is a left tributary of the Ottawa River in the Laurentine Mountains in the Canadian province of Québec .

The river covers a distance of 161 km between its origin in Lac de la Fougère and its confluence with the Ottawa River 90 km east of Ottawa . The last 10 km in particular are known as the rafting route.

Chute-Bell hydroelectric power station

The Chute-Bell hydroelectric power station, built in 1915 on the lower reaches of the Rivière Rouge, about 15 km from its mouth, is operated by Hydro-Québec . It has 2 turbines with a total output of 10 MW . The hydraulic potential is 17.8 m. The barrier structure has a height of 16 m and a length of 59 m. The storage volume is 1 million m³.
